The height of luxury, during our test we were able to transform this smartphone into a small game console. This is entirely capable of running a game like Genshin Impact with the performance pushed to the max and the settings pushed to the maximum. The only downside is that the phone sometimes heats up unexpectedly during our test.

In use, the iPhone 15 Pro Max is therefore a powerful smartphone that is capable of withstanding extensive use. Our test showed autonomy of a day and a half. Switching the phone to USB-C does not offer any guarantee of fast charging since this is capped at 20W. The test of iOS 17 also confirms , the software part of the Apple smartphone is still easy to approach on a daily basis.

The icing on the cake is that the iPhone 15 Pro Max is also one of the best smartphones for photos and videos. The three lenses offer versatility at all times for excellent quality shots. The design still allows a nice grip on the phone for everyday use.

As for the touch interface, it benefits from a few advantages, notably an adaptive refresh ranging from 1 to 120 Hz. During our test, we were also able to measure a peak brightness reaching 1771 cd/m2 and above all an average Delta E reaching 3.02. Two measurements which confirm the excellent provisions of the large screen of this Google smartphone. It still lacks a little energy outdoors, leaving the sun's reflections to the fore.

According to our test, the real added value of the phone is also its resilience in terms of updates. There are now 7 versions of Android promised by the manufacturer while benefiting from the Pixel Experience. You can customize almost everything on your new smartphone. On the other hand, the new Tensor G3 chip takes a hit compared to the performance observed the previous year.

As always for a Google smartphone, the Pixel 8 Pro has excellent photography capabilities. The triple rear lens offers you a very complete experience with a high-end Pro mode as the icing on the cake. This is one of the best smartphones for photography on the market . A word on autonomy since the Pixel 8 Pro is capable of withstanding a day of use and does not benefit from fast charging.

If you are looking for a large screen smartphone that is reliable over time, this is, in our opinion, one of the essential references in 2023. You must still be able to invest the 1099 euros claimed for the model .

Excess for cheap: Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 4G

The successor to the Redmi Note 12, the Redmi Note 13, is the worthy representative of the entry level at Xiaomi. Its design, although very classic, demonstrates attention to detail with careful manufacturing quality for this price. The 6.67-inch Amoled screen is a real asset. It offers a high refresh rate of 120 Hz, a definition of 2400 x 1080 pixels and a color temperature of 6334K, so pretty fair.

On the software side, the smartphone runs MIUI 14, a feature-rich interface, although you will have to deal with a few preinstalled apps that are not very useful…

When it comes to performance, the Redmi Note 13 is powered by a Snapdragon 680 processor, providing a smooth Android experience for most daily tasks. For 3D games, it does not shine, but remains within the norm for this price category.

In terms of photography, the results are generally satisfactory in bright light, but the quality decreases considerably in low light, which is not its strong point. Forget convincing night photos.

The autonomy is also correct: with a 5,000 mAh battery, you will have a little more than a day of typical use, and fast charging allowing you to fully recharge the device in just 1 hour 15 minutes.

The great luxurious challenger: Honor Magic 6 Pro

Honor is going strong in 2024 with a new premium smartphone, the Magic 6 Pro. If its design will leave no one indifferent, we can at least agree on the quality of the finishes, which is there. The new Honor flagship displays a superb and large 6.8-inch Amoled screen. Here we benefit from a refresh rate varying from 1 to 120 Hz while the definition increases to 2800 x 1280 pixels.

The borders are particularly thin, which helps reduce the overall size of the phone. In addition to excellent contrast, we were able to observe a brightness peak at 1300 cd/m² in HDR. The panel also displays good color fidelity, with an average Delta E on the DCI-P3 measured at 3.22 on the SDR. This screen is also protected by glass supposed to be 10 times more resistant than classic glass.

On the rest, the Magic 6 Pro is a hit, with the integration of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 which works wonders. In addition to running everything without worry, it offers good resource management and therefore good autonomy. Allow at least two full days away from a catch. Fast charging at 80W is here.

The photo component is also very successful, notably with a x2.5 telephoto lens which fulfills its promises. Portrait mode is well mastered, as is low light photography.

The Samsung folding phone in book format: Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5

After a Z Flip 5 which made its entry into our guide to compact smartphones , it was logical that the Z Fold 5 moved into that of large format smartphones. The Korean manufacturer continues to refine its folding smartphone recipe , working in particular on autonomy. Performance and photo component are also very successful.

Once again, the Korean manufacturer is refining the design of its smartphone here by reworking its hinge. This allows a complete fold so that the phone leaves no opening. We can regret that there is only IP X8 certification. The exterior incorporates a 6.2-inch Oled screen with a somewhat special ratio. You can use this screen without completely opening the smartphone.

The real star is the internal display. The latter has a diagonal of 7.6 inches with a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz. The book format is particularly suitable for highlighting the touch screen. Our measurements made it possible to detect an average delta E of 4.35 in natural mode. The brightness rises to 1664 cd/m2 to prove to be a formidable everyday ally.

Within the technical sheet, the internal power of the phone is promising. You are entitled to a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 with at least 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. In short, for the software part and 3D games, the mobile is efficient. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold is available from 1899 euros.

In the foldable smartphone market, OnePlus is in turn entering Samsung's territory. With the OnePlus Open, the Chinese manufacturer offers a device with a 7.82-inch screen and superb features. There remains only one problem: its price displayed at 1849 euros is not within the reach of all budgets.
