Huawei P60 Pro

Released in August 2023, the Huawei P60 Pro continues the legacy of premium design and innovative camera technology associated with the P series. However, it also faces the ongoing challenge of navigating the tech landscape without Google Mobile Services (GMS). Thireoview delves into the phone's strengths, weaknesses, and unique features to help you decide if it's the right choice for you.

 The Huawei P60 Pro is a high-end model from the brand, a direct successor to the P50 Pro, it is equipped with a 6.67-inch Oled LTPO 120 Hz screen, powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ SoC Gen 1 (4G) coupled with up to 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage. Three sensors on the back act as a photo unit: a variable aperture lens, a 13-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 48-megapixel telephoto lens with 3.5x optical zoom. It has a 4815 mAh battery compatible with fast charging (88 W).

We finally know its price on the Old Continent. This Tuesday, May 9 marks the European launch of the Huawei P60 Pro, one of the Chinese brand's annual flagships.

A high-end smartphone was already made official in China at the end of March 2023 alongside the Huawei P60 and P60 Art. However, this model remains Huawei's flagship and the European model retains most of the characteristics of the Chinese model.

A variable aperture photo sensor

The Huawei P60 Pro changed its design somewhat compared to last year, with a new placement of its photo modules. Its edges are still curved, however, as is its 6.67-inch Oled LTPO screen, refreshed up to 120 Hz. An imposing model weighing 200 grams and is also waterproof (IP68).

Huawei places particular emphasis on the photography enabled by its smartphone, with a 48-megapixel main wide-angle lens with variable aperture from f/1.4 to f/4.0, allowing it to better understand difficult light situations. However, we will wait for our test to verify it.

Likewise, the brand boasts a 48-megapixel telephoto lens with an aperture “  wider than any smartphone  ”, accompanied by an ultra-wide-angle and a 13-megapixel front camera.

Under the hood, we also find the power and endurance of a flagship on paper, with a 4815 mAh battery rechargeable up to 88 W wired and 50 W wireless, as well as a Snapdragon 8+ chip Gen 1… limited, however, to a 4G connection.

A high price for an incomplete smartphone

If yes, keep in mind that Huawei is still subject to the American embargo pronounced in 2019, which prevents this 2023 model from using 5G and offering Google services ( Play Store, Drive, Gmail, etc.)

The Chinese version of this smartphone is therefore offered under the HarmonyOS operating system. But rest assured, this European version of the Huawei P60 Pro is still sold under a lighter version of Android with the EMUI  13.1 interface.

Two variants and two colors

If that doesn't scare you, the smartphone is available in France now and in two versions:

  • 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage for 1200 euros;

  • 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage for 1400 euros.

The model is sold in two colors: a version with a pearly white back called “  rococo pearl  ” and a more classic black version.
