The Galaxy Z Fold 6 is Samsung's next high-end smartphone

The Galaxy Z Fold 6 is Samsung's next high-end smartphone. Expected for the second half of the year, its design has just been revealed through a leak.

While the ink is barely dry on the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5, all eyes are already turning to the next generation of Samsung's foldable phones. A recent leak from reputable leaker Ice Universe has shed light on the possible design of the Galaxy Z Fold 6, and it seems to be drawing heavy inspiration from the expected design of the Galaxy S24 Ultra.

The foldable smartphone market is increasingly competitive. For a book-sized folding phone, we fell in love with the OnePlus Open. A reaction was therefore needed from Samsung, expected with the Galaxy Z Fold 6.

The Korean manufacturer, and former number 1 smartphone manufacturer, was the first to market smartphones with a folding screen, but it must be admitted that the brand has changed the concept very little over the generations.

With the Galaxy Z Fold 6, Samsung seems ready to change the design of its flagship, to take inspiration from the Galaxy S24 Ultra launched in January.

“iPhone-style” edges

Inside and out, the smartphone appears to be equipped with screens with particularly thin edges. But what stands out are the edges of the chassis, which have become completely straight, like the Galaxy S24 Ultra or the latest generations of iPhone.

We are curious to discover what this will give in terms of handling such an imposing product. Will the right angle feel good in the palm of your hand, when the phone is unfolded or folded?

For the rest, we can see the USB-C port of the phone, the grills for the speaker, as well as a module with three cameras.

Launch schedule

At MWC 2024, YJ Kim, EVP in charge of the Language AI team at Samsung Electronics, was able to confirm to us that the launch of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 was scheduled for the second part of 2024. No surprises with this schedule, consistent with the manufacturer's habit of launching its folding products during the summer.

As with the Galaxy S24, these two new products will rely on the integration of AI to stand out.

Towards a Unified Design Language for Samsung?

The potential unification of design elements between the Fold and S lines could be a strategic move by Samsung to establish a more cohesive and recognizable visual identity across its entire range of high-end smartphones.

Taking Leaks with a Grain of Salt

It's important to remember that this information comes from leaks and has not been officially confirmed by Samsung. Therefore, we should wait for the official unveiling of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 to get a definitive picture of its final design and technical specifications.

Building Anticipation for the Future of Foldables

Despite the lack of official confirmation, this leak has certainly piqued the interest and excitement of foldable phone enthusiasts. The Galaxy Z Fold 6, if it aligns with the leaks, could offer a refreshingly different design with a potentially improved user experience thanks to a larger internal display.

Conclusion:

The Galaxy Z Fold 6 remains shrouded in a veil of mystery. However, this leak offers a potential glimpse into its future design, drawing inspiration from the Galaxy S24 Ultra and potentially marking a design turning point for the Fold line. The future of foldable phones promises to be exciting, and the Galaxy Z Fold 6 could well play a key role in its evolution.
