Expected later this year, the Xiaomi MIX Fold 4 could single-handedly shake things up in the folding smartphone market. The device would notably rely on a new design, but also on a flawless technical sheet, bringing together, among other things, 1 TB of storage and a two-way satellite link.

A power monster with cosmic ambitions?

Under the hood, the Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 would combine a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 with 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage. The whole thing would be powered by a 5,000 mAh battery supporting 100 W wired charging. For comparison, the current Mix Fold 3 “makes do” with a capacity of 4,800 mAh with 67 W charging.

On the photo front, the smartphone would this time feature a 50 Mpx wide-angle main camera, and potentially a new periscope zoom to replace the current 10 Mpx sensor with x5 zoom. This new module would offer better resolution, but also greater magnification without us knowing much more immediately.

According to some sources, the Mix Fold 4 could finally count on water resistance, as well as a two-way satellite connection. This would allow it to get ahead of the competition, and in particular that of Samsung in this area.

It remains to be seen whether Xiaomi will market this new product elsewhere than in China, with all of its new features... or if the device will conversely retain some functions exclusive to the Chinese market. Response in a few months.
